Famous Vampires of the 1800's

Vampires.

Vampires have been around as long as life itself, in legends and folk lore these deadly predators are often portrayed not only as beauty frozen in time, but a hunter with an insatiable thirst for blood, Cursed or Blessed with immortality and sustained by blood they move for centuries often of wealth accumulated over lifetimes had living in luxury and relatively secret existence.

Often adapting to times as they change Vampires with little difference to ourselves easily go about day to day activities while preying upon the unsuspecting mortal.

Common Personalities and appearance.

Vampires are an inherently self-centered species, brimming with pride. They view themselves as a kind of “nobility,” holding humanity in contempt, often seeing humans as nothing more than inferior creatures or a source of sustenance.

Their long lifespans grant them unparalleled knowledge and wisdom, far exceeding that of other species. They are frequently celebrated for their worldly refinement and cultured demeanor.

Immortality has allowed them to build immense wealth through strategic investments, thriving business ventures, and inherited fortunes. This financial power provides them with unmatched freedom and security.

Though some Vampires cling to old traditions, appearing eccentric to outsiders, many embrace the finer aspects of life and eagerly explore new technologies and experiences.

Vampires are beautiful, graceful and possess exquisitely refined features, including alluring voices, which grant them an otherworldly beauty designed to captivate and ensnare their prey.

However, if their feeding habits falter and they near starvation, their appearance deteriorates, taking on a ghastly, corpse-like visage.

Under normal circumstances, they maintain a pale complexion, akin to someone who avoids sunlight or has naturally fair skin.

When a Vampire is starved, their appearance shifts dramatically, taking on a sickly and unsettling quality. Their eyes darken, with bloodshot sclera and enlarged, shadowy pupils, while their complexion grows even paler, appearing almost lifeless. Thin, colorless lips and a sheen resembling sweat give them a feverish, unwell demeanor.

As their hunger intensifies, their control over their feeding instincts weakens. Their canines become more prominent, elongating into sharper, more menacing fangs. In their desperation, they may exhibit compulsive swallowing motions, as though trying to draw sustenance from the air itself.

OOC NOTE: Vampires are permitted to use visual graphics for their appearance and biting ceremonies, a subtle pair of fangs, or the use of the animations for turning etc is permitted, anything visually overloading on graphics that causes lag to others may get you a warning, no visually loading graphics should be used during WWM combat on sim. BLOODLINES IS NOT PERMITTED.

Mating, Turning and Bonds.

Vampires may sometimes find life partners whom they form a bond with, most commonly with Humans, Witches or other Vampires, It would be very rare that a Skinwalker (or shifter) would be associated with a Vampire due to the heritage of the two.

Humans must be adults to be turned.

Human mates of Vampires could often be kept as blood dolls (see further down) or turned, Mates or dolls are usually marked by the Vampire by scent to signify to others that particular person is claimed, As vampires are naturally jealous and territorial it is considered an act of war to touch what they own.

Vampires are made not born, (there will be no twilight half breeds running around), the only race that can be turned is a human, No vampire can get another person pregnant, Human or otherwise.

To turn a human is painful and often deadly experience as if not done precisely the Human will not survive.

The turning process occurs on the night the full moon is highest at midnight within 30 minutes (This is the beginning of a new day and new life within a new cycle)

The Vampire drains a human to the point of near death, drained until the beat of the heart is less then 60 per minute and the human just bridging consciousness.

-this signifies the line between life and death-

Once at this point the Vampire tears or bites their own flesh and offers the blood to the dying human which must be drank willingly, after the exchange the human is then buried within a cemetery in a grave.

After a particularly painful process of death, the human turned vampire must then claw there way out of the grave through the soil to surface as a indication of being reborn, this soil is later known as grave dirt, This dirt holds special properties and a connection to the Vampire to the point they can tell when it is being walked on or some has been removed.

Grave dirt can be used to summon the Vampire linked too it and a small vial is often kept by clan leaders to summon their clan in emergencies.

Blood doll

Is a human who has either willingly offered or been coerced into providing nourishment for a Vampire.

The experience of being fed on often brings them intense pleasure, sometimes described as a form of sexual euphoria.

Blood dolls frequently pursue Vampires, unaware of the perilous path they tread. Many become infatuated with the notion of becoming a Vampire themselves and will go to great lengths to gain their Vampire’s favor, often risking everything in their obsessive devotion.

Strengths

Physical strength:

As a vampire ages their strength increases up to 3x human strength, providing they are well fed, this drops considerably in a Vampires weakened state.

Speed and Agility:

Vampires possess remarkable speed, far surpassing that of an average human. They can easily catch up to or even outpace a galloping horse, often dominating in races and outmatching most other beings in raw velocity.

However, this extraordinary speed comes with limits. Much like a cheetah, Vampires can only sustain such bursts of speed for short periods before the effort drains their energy, leaving them fatigued. Their rapid movement is akin to an adrenaline-fueled surge, powerful but fleeting.

Vampires have the ability to jump, move and react faster without difficulty.

Immortality:

It is believed that vampires are immortal. As long as they feed regularly there have been no known cases of a vampire dying of old age, though insanity is known to corrupt an ancient mind.

A vampire can be killed via a stake to the heart or removal of the heart or brain.

(Due to roleplay standards, we would prefer if Vampires limited their age to max of 500 years old, what ever age you turned is the time you are frozen at and your 500 year count begins)

Healing and durability:

Vampires possess the ability to heal from most injuries with remarkable speed. For instance, a knife wound can close within minutes, provided they have fed recently.

However, if they are deprived of nourishment, the healing process slows considerably. Wounds inflicted by holy objects or silver are particularly troublesome, taking much longer to heal and often causing significant pain.

In addition to their regenerative abilities, Vampires are physically tougher and more resilient than humans. This durability, can vary based on their feeding habits and frequency, with well-fed Vampires exhibiting greater resistance to injury than those who have gone without sustenance.

Senses:

Vampires senses are on par with those of the shifters. They are able to see, hear and smell with great skill and ease.

Limitations:

Noise can limit or impair the distance of the vampires hearing range or ability to detect small noises

Mind Compulsion:

Vampires can influence and control thoughts, emotions and sometimes behaviors of a susceptible human, They can do this by maintaining eye contact or a simple wave of the hand and speaking to the humans inner most desires.

Mind compulsion requires a winning role to occur (Dice hud)

Limitations:

- Only able to be controlled for one turn (one action per roleplay unless agreed otherwise)

- Behaviors must be OOCly agreed too.

- The human when they "awaken from the haze" will start to remember things over time, like a vivid dream at first but then more over time.

- Constant use on a single player may build an immunity.

Reading Minds:

Vampires have the ability to hear surface thoughts of those around them, in crowded rooms it may become hard to pinpoint who exactly the thought is coming from.

OOC NOTE: Please get OOC consent before reading another's thoughts.

Weakness

Sunlight:

No tanning for vampires, they will feel pain and will burn if touched by sunlight. If in contact for too long they have been known to combust and turn to ash (please do not use this as a party trick)

Invitations:

A Vampire cannot enter a home without invited in. An invitation can be withdrawn at any time and the vampire will be pushed from the home or have a sudden reason to leave.

Technically this also applies for businesses, but as they are considered to be open for everyone, vampires can enter them. The "permission" can be revoked though.

Master's Call:

No matter the age a vampire will always be under the call of their master or creator. They are subject to their masters will no matter what.

Silver:

A touch of silver will cause a vampires flesh to burn, it will heal at the same rate as a human and tend to leave scars or welts upon a vampires flesh.

Vampires and Weapons:

While Vampires will be able to use all weapon types, they can not use weapons containing silver or silver elements. That means no silver bullets, no silver blades, no silver in any weapon. And yes, this also is true for Master Vampires.

Holy Water:

this is not to be bathed in or used to wash behind the ears as it is similar to acid on a human, it will cause massive damage to the flesh of a vampire.

OOC NOTE: Use the Win Lose style DICE ROLL on the HUD for this.  If you throw it on a Vampire it will last one posting round.

Religious Items or Locations:

A vampire will feel repulsed by items which hold a belief or religious continuation to them. The bearer of such an item must have true belief in it for it to work. This also comes to religious locations such as a church. Graveyards are an exception.

Fire:

A vampire is a dead thing, Flame enjoys their flesh and is sometimes considered a 'pure' item to some vampires.

If too close a vampire can catch a light and burn to ash.

Skinwalker Bites

Are often dangerous to Vampires, causing infection, necrosis, and suppressing their healing abilities, and making them susceptible to compulsion or manipulation. In extreme cases, it could also lead to paralysis if left medically or magically untreated or eventually death.

OOC NOTE: Use the Win Lose style DICE ROLL on the HUD for this.

Stake to the Heart:

When a wooden stake is driven into the heart of a Vampire it brings upon instant death.

(Must be agreed OOC)

Blood Consumption

Shape Shifters

Should a Vampire drink knowingly or unknowingly shifter blood, they will become increasingly aggressive in roleplay.

Human Blood:

The most common form of blood drank by Vampires, because of this vampires have grown the ability to distinguish between blood types, diet, weather or not drugs are present, and sometimes even if the Human is sick but not able to diagnose the form of sickness.

Vampire:

A vampire gets no substance from drinking another vampires blood and is usually only done so to gain a sense of possession during mating.

Blood of the dead:

Vampires must keep their victims alive to feed, blood turns toxic to them otherwise.

Animal Blood:

Considered the "Vegan" diet, they are considerably less stronger and heal slower when they drink animal blood as their sole diet while it keeps the hunger at bay they would be inferior to human blood consuming Vampires.

Human food:

Vampires can eat human food, fruits, vegetables etc same as consuming beverages, however it would make them very sick for a few hours and weaken them considerably. So while possible no sane vampire would do it.

Misconceptions about Vampires

Vampires can fly:

No they can not, not in Blackwater, we know it is in books and such, but we are excluding this, they are incredibly fast however.

Vampires have no reflection:

They have normal reflections in mirrors water etc.

Vampires can not be seen in photos:

This is also not true, There are many photographs that show vampires.

Vampires can turn into an animal:

No they can not assume an animal form, this myth most likely started with a vampire using their superhuman speed and leaving an animal behind.

Vampires can turn into mist:

No...just no.

Vampires are repulsed by garlic:

No, Garlic will not keep you safe from a vampire's bite, Most vampires dislike the smell and will actively avoid it but it will not harm them in anyway.

Vampires can impregnate/conceive:

No they can not, they are dead, Vampire procreate by turning humans into vampires and not by making babies, Vampires can however still have sexual relations and some are very sexual beings.

Vampires being day walkers

We do allow our vampires out during the day, this however is induced by limited exposure, you will not find a vampire standing in direct sunlight on the street at high noon, they would suffer akin to third and higher degree burns doing this, however they can move through shade, shadows and hustle between buildings.

most vampires during the day would be seen with a covering... umbrella or similar, even so would not be in direct sunlight.
